Credit for Prior Learning

CCRI has a long history of and commitment to recognizing, evaluating, and awarding college credit for relevant college-level learning gained outside of CCRI. Credit for Prior Learning provides credit pathways for students to reduce the time and cost of earning a college degree or certificate. 

Examples of possible opportunities for Credit for Prior Learning include, but are not limited to:

Individual Outcomes-Based Options

  • Portfolio Assessment
  • Departmental Challenge Exams/Skills Demonstration

Testing

  • Professional Certification and Licensure Exams
  • College Board College-Level Examinations Program (CLEP)
  • DSST Exams
  • GED®, College Ready Plus with score of 175-200
  • Advanced Placement (AP) Exams taken in high school
  • Other testing options

Trainings

  • Military trainings
  • Corporate-sponsored trainings
  • ACE reviewed trainings
  • Local career and workforce trainings
  • Other trainings

Education

  • Such as credits from other colleges and universities that did not transfer through the Records process
